What is loose leaf tea?

Loose leaf tea consists of whole or partially intact tea leaves that have room to expand during brewing. Many tea enthusiasts prefer loose leaf tea because it often provides greater flavor complexity, aroma, and quality than conventional tea bags.

What are the six types of tea?

The six major tea categories are:

  • Green Tea
  • White Tea
  • Yellow Tea
  • Oolong Tea
  • Black Tea
  • Pu-erh Tea

All six come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis, but differ based on how the leaves are processed, oxidized, and aged.

What makes Japanese tea different?

Japanese tea is typically steamed rather than pan-fired, producing distinctive flavors often described as fresh, vegetal, sweet, and umami-rich. Popular Japanese teas include sencha, gyokuro, hojicha, genmaicha, and matcha.

Is TeaMinded only about tea?

Tea is at the center of everything we do, but many episodes also explore related topics such as craftsmanship, creativity, journaling, books, mindfulness, hospitality, slow living, and intentional daily rituals.
